H.E.R.E. is a 12-week cohort experience designed for students interested in helping professions and community-focused careers.
The program offers an opportunity to connect with community organizations, learn about local resources, and build leadership and advocacy skills alongside other students who share similar goals.

Who should apply?
H.E.R.E. is designed for students who:
- Are interested in helping professions or community work
- Want to better understand the resources available in their community
- Are interested in leadership, advocacy, or community engagement
- Want to build relationships with local organizations and professionals
What does helping professionals mean?
Students from a variety of programs may benefit, including:
- Social Work
- Mental Health / Counseling
- Chemical Dependency Counseling
- Interpreting
- Sociology
- Other community-focused fields
Student Commitment
Students who are selected to participate
are agreeing to approx 6 hours a week time commitment in person.
(2-2 hour sessions per week, plus travel time)
As well as additional time independently for their final partner project.
What will students do:
Students participate in two types of weekly meetings:
Learning & Development Sessions
- Panels with professionals working in helping professions
- Skill workshops and trainings
- Discussions about community systems and resources
Community Action Sessions
- Visiting local organizations and resource providers
- Volunteering when opportunities are available
- Learning directly from community partners about their work and needs
